I spent the day painting, the UT orange is gone and a deep barn red is now covering the great room walls. It is by no means done, I still need window treatments and some pieces of furniture from Del Rio, but at least I have a new sofa that makes in to a queen size bed - so I'm ready for company!! You can see glimpses of the huge (over 9 feet) cow hide on the floor, this is going to be the Texas room......can't wait for the first cold snap so I can have a fire in the wood stove.Still sharing furniture between houses, eventually I will be able to hide the electronics in a pine armoire when Waylon gets moved here with the 'good ' TV. The close up pic is of one of the new end tables, they are slate topped and all different. Very pretty and rustic!

An almost complete kitchen!

Counters, a functioning sink.... just a few more finishing touches and the kitchen will be done. You will notice in the pictures that the dishwasher is not completely installed, the range hood hasn't been installed yet and the light fixture over the sink still needs to be wired.

I'll be cooking tonight!

Here are a couple of pictures of the exterior of the house. You can see it is nice and green after last weeks rain. We have LOTS we want to do to the grounds, but the interior is the priority right now. The deck is wonderful, it gets great morning breezes. Our plan for that (possibly this winter or spring) is to remove the entire deck structure and replace it with cedar or stained wood. We think that would be more fitting to the country setting and less maintenance than this painted deck.

We have 3 acres, it slopes down from the deck to a wooded area with cedars, oak and a few other hardwoods we haven't identified yet. To the left of the deck area is a nice detached garage/workshop.

Sept . sunrise at 75 Zeder Strasse Kitchen remodel in progress.....
We have moved, well at least part of the family! The Cowan's now own a home on Zeder Strasse, Fredericksburg, TX - in the beautiful hill country of central Texas. I have had many requests for pics of our new place, and while the remodeling is still in progress I will update here and you can check out our new digs! Waylon is still in Del Rio, though he visits as often as possible. He is finishing out the year working at the bank and keeping our home there in 'showing' condition for the realtors. Chelsea is in Belton beginning her first year of college at the University of Mary Hardin Baylor, so you see- all 3 of us are in different locations.
I have been in the house since the end of July, working on things like painting and minor remodeling myself. The kitchen remodel (after Waylon and I completely gutted the kitchen over 4th of July weekend) has mainly been done by Lowes. The flooring is in, the appliances are in, and the cabinets are in.....but alas no counter tops! So I haven't been doing much cooking, with no kitchen sink or tops on the cabinets it is rather difficult. But the complete kitchen is in sight! Counter tops are to be installed this week, as well as the sink, dishwasher etc. I am so excited, I will get to cook a real meal this weekend and actually clean up in the kitchen rather than the bathroom sink!
The pictures in this post are of a beautiful sunrise last week just as I was leaving for work, I took it while standing on our deck looking toward the neighbor's property. The other 2 are of the kitchen. Waylon and I had knocked out a wall, and the next pic is the progress so far in that same view of the kitchen. We have 3 acres on a hill and love it!
For those of you wondering why I am in Fredericksburg, I got a job. I am now the Director of Christian Education at Fbg United Methodist Church. A true dream come true! We are so excited to be starting this next phase of our lives here. It is only a bit over 2 hrs from Chelsea's college campus, so easy for her to come visit.
I will post more pics as the remodel continues, and hope to have you come visit this fall - we can sit on the deck together and watch the sun rise and set. Can't wait!
